F.A.Q's

1. I have no dental problems as such, why should I visit a dentist?

Regular dental check-ups helps us to diagnose any new cavities that develop which can be arrested or stopped only at an early stage and thus preventing it from becoming deeper and painful resulting in more advanced or complicated treatment like the need of root canal treatment. Schedule a visit to a good dental clinic to have you professionally examined and a course of action can be discussed and finalized.

2. My dentist had shown me few cavities in my teeth but they are not hurting or paining or bothering me at present. Should I get these cavities filled? What if I get it filled later? How long can I wait?

Prevention is better than cure the age old adage goes! The earlier you attend to your health the longer the body serves you efficiently .Today what treatment option that is available for you (which may be just a Filling) may not necessarily be the option available to you tomorrow as the disease progresses with time if left unattended and you may have to commit yourself to more advanced or complicated treatment possibly even loss of tooth or bone leading to do either a gum surgery, a root canal treatment or even extraction the tooth.

Cavity fillings in the initial stage is painless as enamel drilling causes no sensation, no pain and little or minimal loss of natural tooth structure.

3. I had a very deep cavity or pain in my tooth and my dentist told me to go for a root canal treatment on that tooth, but after taking medicines my pain had subsided. Should I still get the root canal done if not done what will happen?

By taking medicines, your pain and swelling may subside for the time being. But later, the decay and infection will spread deeper from that tooth to the adjacent teeth, or that tooth may breakdown from inside and you may have to undergo advanced or complicated restorative procedures to keep it or extract that tooth and then replacing that extracted tooth with artificial crowns and bridges or implants will cost you more time, energy and money and discomfort as compared to treating a single tooth with a root canal and cap or ceramic crown.
